Friends of ours rented a section of an organic farm's organic field nearby. It comes ready-set-go with organic seedlings and plants and all you have to do is harvest. And weed a little. And do something with the tons of vegetables that invade your kitchen. Merciless. Day after day, week after week. So much fun.
Luckily, we are friends with this overflowing kitchen and benefit from other people's organic fun.
So out of nowhere, I had to come up with a quick and easy recipe that involves most of the geek's favorite food: meat, peas and potatoes. Well, peas are his favorite, but the rest is yummy for me. Note: meat does not grow on that field. Just to make that clear.
500 g ground beef
potatoes to your liking, sliced
peas to your liking, cooked
1 onion, chopped
Fry the potatoe slices and add the onions last minute. Then add the beef and fry the mixture until the meat is nicely done. Then add the peas and let it all simmer for a while, to give them a chance to become friends.
Season to your liking with salt and pepper, chili, fresh herbs and such. I used a lot of thyme, of which I read that it has pre-antibiotic powers. So it is basically Superherb and I like to feel healthier just by sprinkling it over the pan.
Serve with beer, ice cold.
Simple and it works with most vegetables, with rice or pasta or anything else. It is basically the chameleon of recipes. Well done, Cati Chef.
